VIPdesk is a global outsourced provider of contact center and concierge services to companies in industries including financial services, travel, retail and automotive services. The company was formerly known as Concierge Club, Inc. and changed its name in 2000. VIPdesk.com, Inc. was founded in 1997 and is headquartered in Alexandria, Virginia.

Work At Home Jobs

VIPdesk is in the midst of a rapid expansion and is currently seeking to add 1000 home-based agents, termed "Brand Ambassadors" by the company, to the approximately 300 it already employs. Brand Ambassadors handle inbound customer contacts via email, instant messaging and by phone for VIPdesk clients for which they have received training. Agents provide sales facilitation services including processing orders for catalog items, researching product information, and making recommendations. In addition, many client programs require cross-selling and up-selling. Some client programs might require outbound customer service calls. Home-based agents are independent contractors versus regular W-2 employees.

Requirements

General Requirements:

  • Must attend all certification classes and pass the certification process (graduate successfully) - 100% attendance is required.
  • Must successfully pass a credit check. A minimum FICO score of 500 or higher is required.
  • Must pass a background investigation which includes verification of business references and criminal history.
  • Must meet availability requirements for scheduling.
  • Must incorporate a business and provide an employer tax identification number for tax reporting purposes and complete an independent contractor agreement.
  • Must meet computer and home-office specifications.

Computer & Home-Office Requirements:

  • Processor Speed - Single Processor: 2 GHz or higher. Dual Core Processor: 1 GHz or higher.
  • Operating System - Windows XP with Service Pack 2. (Windows Vista, ME and Macintosh are NOT supported).
  • MS Office - including Word and Excel.
  • Memory - 1 GB RAM or higher .
  • Web Browser - Minimum: IE 6 with service pack 1.
  • High Speed Internet Access - 1.5 Mbps or More - DSL or Cable Modem (Dial up, Satellite, and Wireless Connections are NOT allowed).
  • Monitor - 800 x 600 resolution.
  • Sound - Sound card with speakers or USB speakers.
  • Instant Messenger - Required (AIM).
  • Anti-Virus Software - Current and regularly updated anti-virus software required.
  • Anti-Spyware Software – Current and regularly updated.
  • Adware Software – Current and regularly updated.
  • Firewall- Current and regularly updated (Microsoft’s Windows Firewall does not meet our security requirements. Third party firewall such as Zone Alarm, Norton or McAfee are required.).
  • Email Account with at least 250 MB storage.
  • Telephone - Analog (not digital), corded phone (Not Cordless), key pad needs to be on the base (can not be on handset), the handset needs to be removable (cord from jack), a good brand such as Sony, AT&T and Panasonic.
  • Telephone Access - One work phone line (land line only) dedicated to VIPdesk Connect (must be free of voicemail, free of call waiting and include unlimited long distance. We do not support VOIP, cable or satellite lines).
  • Shredder Machine.
  • Fax machine.
  • File cabinets with locks.

Compensation

Varies depending on the amount of hours you decide to work for the week, the call volume, and client program. Generally, compensation is reported between $14 and $20 per hour.

Other Notes

Aside from the tax implications of operating as an independent contractor, you may also incur additional expenses such as workman's comp and general liability insurance.
