Indian Call Centre
Agents Can Now Work From Home
In a news
report released on its website August 8th, BusinessWeek is
reporting that the government in India has given the
go-ahead for companies there to employ work at home agents
in call centres and other industries.
This
decision will allow Indian companies to enjoy the many
benefits offered by home-based worker employment,
including lower operating costs, increased employee
satisfaction coupled with lower turnover, and the
employment of workers challenged by the traditional
workplace, including the handicapped and disabled.
Industry professionals commenting on this news are
cautiously optimistic, explaining this also presents some
concerns. Security issues such as work at home employee
access to sensitive customer information is presented as
an example.
