RTI Plans to Nearly
Double Size of Raleigh Call Center, Add Nearly 600
Employees
Research
Triangle Park, N.C. -- RTI International plans to double
the size of its Raleigh Call Center, adding nearly 600
employees.
The center will expand from its present size of 10,300
square feet to nearly 18,000 square feet, doubling the
number of interviewing seats.
Expanding the call center is necessary to handle
interviewing requirements for the National Postsecondary
Student Aid Study (NPSAS), which RTI is conducting for the
U.S. Department of Education. The NPSAS work will entail
more than 200,000 hours of interviewing and tracing over a
six-month period.
The call center will contract about 600 additional
temporary workers to fill all the additional interviewing
seats, including 100 remote interviewers working from home
via RTI's Virtual Call Center infrastructure.
"The call center's growth will give RTI extra
capacity for taking on additional large interviewing
projects in the future," Richard Heman-Ackah, RTI's
director of Call Center Services.
RTI has entered into a five-year lease on a
7,500-square-foot suite next door to the present call
center premises to accomplish the expansion. The wall
separating the two spaces will be removed.
The NPSAS is the only periodic, nationally representative
survey of student financial aid. Its main purpose is to
create a research data set for a large sample of students
that brings together information about federal, state and
private aid programs. The resulting data set allows
research and policy analysts to address basic issues about
the affordability of postsecondary education and the
effectiveness of existing financial aid programs.
The call center is located 5265 Capital Boulevard in
Raleigh.
